Young people are among those most impacted by the rapid pace of technological change. Yet adults almost exclusively craft the narratives and “solutions” about kids and tech. What if centering and meaningfully listening to young people is one of the most powerful levers we have to tackle the harms of technology and the unchecked power of the tech oligarchy—not just for young people, but for all of us?
Youth Tell the Truth about Tech is a storytelling project amplifying a wide diversity of young voices on key issues related to technology. While adults debate tech's impact on youth, we rarely hear their stories directly, especially those with marginalized identities. In contrast, our community-based events, interactive installations, and multimedia give kids of all ages and backgrounds a platform to share their personal stories and future visions about technology's role in all of our lives.
Podcast and video series highlighting young people’s wide ranging perspectives on topics like:
Pop-up gatherings across the country where young people create art and share their tech personal stories and future visions, in partnership with community institutions such as schools, libraries, non-profits, and local festivals.
Interactive installations alongside A People’s History of Tech to showcase art and personal stories generated at local gatherings.
