A People's History of Tech (APHOT) reframes dominant technological narratives by documenting how diverse communities have experienced, shaped, and resisted technological change.
Technological dominance represents an existential threat to our democracy, planet and future generations. Our interventions include collecting narratives that share tech’s true impacts, archiving forgotten histories, and communicating a positive future in service to all life. We also provide infrastructure and a participatory governance model to help our members meet their present needs and opportunities.

The (m)otherboard Guaranteed Basic Income (GBI) program supports visionary leaders who are bending the arc of technology toward collective good with direct, no-strings-attached monthly stipends.
We're building responsive, participatory and nimble systems to counter present day tech disruption. This includes tech-enabled participatory governance, rapid response funds, and a growing community of practice to sustain tech justice workers and nurture radical dreaming.
Our R & D studio explores the tech futures we wish to see across generations. This includes intergenerational, place-based convenings, and media projects that lift up young people's perspectives on the future of tech.
The book club gives members of our community the opportunity to learn about and discuss the vital perspectives that fuel the responsible tech movement. We feature live readings by the author and open group discussion. Learn more about our current selection.
